The Public Education Committee (“PEC”) was established pursuant to the policy document approved by the Cabinet of the Virgin Islands in preparation for the Virgin Islands’ mutual evaluation by the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force in 2017. The PEC forms part of the National Risk Assessment Framework which also includes the National Risk Assessment Steering Council and the National Risk Assessment Steering Group. The PEC’s primary task is to prepare appropriate educational material to sensitise the Virgin Islands’ public on issues of money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing. In addition, the PEC is charged with ensuring that this educational material is disseminated to the general public in an efficient and effective manner.
